Well it's been sometime since I posted on this car. With some help from Mike P. at Indycals, I have finally got back to hopefully finishing this car. The first thing is, my wife broke my camera when we were in Haiti. So, I'm waiting on a new camera so I can post. Secondly, when I looked at the car, I noticed that after sitting for and long time there were some hairline cracks in the blue paint! Fortunately I had not gotten that far with decaling. I've had to strip off the decals I had on and wet sand and fill the cracks and repaint the car. That is the problem when you mix paints! I had used Tamiya white primer and Tamiya gloss white as a base, because I had pealing issues with the MCW paint. I was not happy with Tamiya's light blue as I had already posted. So, I went back to MCW for the blue and it's coming back to haunt me! As soon as I get my new camera, I'll post some pics on progress.

This is a very cool car and one which I have owned since 1996 when it came out. I never got futher than painting the gloss white on it. This is a kit which for me screams for a set of masks so I can paint the blue on to the surface. I always get tripped up by complex stripes.
Keep up the good work, no matter how many times you have to paint it (I feel your pain brother!)

The Indy site has been pretty quiet lately. Sorry about the long gap. I guess I should get back to modeling, but I'm just really in a funk lately about building. I just can't get myself back down into the dungeon! I was down once or twice with no major work getting done. We've had a great summer that went by so fast with going to Disney, Haiti, Indy and Pocono (twice - once for Indy cars and once for NASCAR). We've also been doing a lot of cruising with the 57 Chevy. You can do a show or cruise night almost every day of the week. We just do weekends. As for building, I feel like I'm at the end of my rope. I started looking at all the kits I have yet to build and I started to realize that I'll never build them all. At one point I thought about getting out of the hobby all together! Bill gave me some good advice so I decided to hang around. Well, Fall is here and next week I'll be putting the 57 away for the winter, maybe I'll get the urge start building again. Thanks for the interest, Jim

Jim, it happens to all of us. But being naturally creative I think the desire will return. We're wired that way. I also share your observation about never being able to build all the kits I have. But having said that I can't wait to get my F5000 Lola from Kevin. I guess that desire is in the wiring too. Whatever you decide to do, I for one truly appreciate all your contributions to the forum and to me personally. Take care
John

I know for a while now I just don't feel like building anything I even sold off some kits on eBay just because I lost a lot of interest in the hobby I have even gone as far as considering shutting the board down but as with everything the urge is coming back now I just need 4 98 Dallara's

Well I finally pulled the Reynard back out and decaled the body and rear wing end plates. Now it's ready for a good clear coat and polish. The decals were from Michael at Indycals. Some time ago I had requested that he redo and update the 95 Players Reynard decals. The original set was lacking some markings and not quite the right size, they needed to be enlarged. Michael did a great job on the decals and I personally thank him for it. If you're doing this car, be sure to get these latest decals. More updates on the way. Jim

Man, that's pretty! It's going to look incredible under clear coat.

Well the fun part is done! Painting, decaling, clear-coating, and polishing. This is the finished product on that end. Now it's back to the little details to finish her up. Most of the front suspension is done. I have some work to do on the transmission and rear wing support. I also need to detail the cockpit. So, it may be some time till I have another report on this one. Jim

Well it's on to finishing up the small parts. Here is the rear uprights on top. Got them painted and decaled with carbon fiber. Same with the front wheel aerodynamic discs on the bottom. Jim

I've also been doing some work on the seat, by adding seat-belts. I used a set of Crazy Modeler hardware and gray tape. I used the Stand 21 seat-belt patches from Colorado decals. After applying the decal patches and using solva-set to suck the decals down, I then gave the whole thing a black wash. Once that was done I sprayed everything clear matte. I will be adding clear blue to the belt latch. I am also working on the shift linkage and shifter along with sway bar adjusters. Next is a dash and steering wheel. Jim

Colorado decals have some nice sets of seat-belt decals, if you're into that, and seat-belt patches. Some sets and how they are done can be quite convincing! I was fortunate enough to find this set that had the Stand 21 decals. I couldn't find them anywhere else and was on the brink of making my own when I came across these!
