thanks for the link....watched it up to the red flag for rain. I'll finish it up tomorrow. also watched some of the 1941 race....IN COLOR. very cool.....except for the garage fire before the race. now waiting on more 67 stills.....

Interesting that the 42b still has the mounting points for the 38 radius rods. Also, Indy results show that a #10 car was Bud Tinglestad in a Gerhard -- is that the car in the picture?

I'm just guessing but I would think that the two tubs in that pic are possibly back at the Lotus factory in 1966 and never made the trip across the Atlantic. I think I read that the only one to make it to the US was the car that Hill drove in '67.

As promise,any pictures I have from the Indy 500 practice at the beginning of May 1967. With The Clark 38/7#31 & Hill 38/8 #80: Graham Hill #80: In the Pit stop with Parnelli Jones & Jim Clark: In 1968 this chassis 38/8 was sold to Frank Eggers to Formula A events in 1968/69: Any others in this afternoon!...See you soon. Always Graham Hill,but the race day,with the #81,he did not finish. After this race,this Lotus 38B(or 42F),was viewed in the Canadian Formula series & in SCCA Continental Championship in F5000,in 1969 with Bill Brack Castrol Team,with Chevy motor: Here are all of my pictures from the 1967 Indy Lotus 38B(42F),I have,and in suite the other Lotus at 1967 Indy 500,the chassis 38/7 of Jim Clark. One of my favorite pictures of Grahm at Indy. An intresting note on the #80 Lotus 38 that Graham practiced with, no offset in the suspension.

I don't think the #80 is a 42F. check out the roll bar.....same as Clarks 38. the 42F has what appears to be a 'dual' roll bar and the bodywork behind the cockpit is much different. maybe the #80 was a team backup car? its also interesting to see that they added the left sidetank at some point to the #80. some pics show it, some don't. love those old Lotus pics! thanks to everyone that is posting them!

As noted above, the #80 is a type 38, 38/8/s to be exact. The type 38 was abandoned in favor of the type 42f

anyone make a resin model of the 42F or even a 38? the IMC Lotus kits (Clarks winning car and the '66 STP) are good, but the nose and tail pieces are not quite right. also the opening around the cockpit is not shaped correctly. just more work for me I guess........LOL

The book by Andrew Ferguson is most excellent. It may be out of print, but it is one of the best books written on the subject by the guy who did all the logistics on travel for the team.
