This is a real gem...one of my favorites except I no longer have it. I built it on commission for a fellow in LA. When he passed away he donated his collection to the Peterson Museum. Lot's of scratch buiding, leather, etc. Started with the Wills Finecast kit.Really wish I had this back.

The y are the Wills two-piece you-lace-ems. I put the tyres in the lathe a turned down the treads giving them the more iconic balloon look. the left side engine panel is scratch built to repicate the Duray car...it had 3 rows of louvres. I'll post some of the front end which was completely redone in brass then chrome plated.

This is the front end with brass dedion, turned brake drums, and nuts and bolts holding all together. Chrome plated axle and grille with photo etch insert.

I remade the axle from brass as well as the bat wing brackets. Soldered it all together and sent it to the chrome plater. It actually all bolted together with miniature nuts and bolts. The grille was white metal and I polished it to chrome like finish and had that plated as well. I thnk they put different layers of metal down that "stick" to each other. The white metal may have been plate don brass then chrome. Not sure how the process works exactly.

This really is nice. How would you judge the Finecast kit? Better to start with that or with one of the resin versions?
Thanks.
