Hi, I’m hoping that some on this forum might be able to assist; As well as a few of Lance Seller’s excellent resin reproductions I’ve recently acquired some genuine Bob Clidinst fibreglass bodyshells. The difficulty that I’m having is that the fibreglass bodyshells came unlabelled or when with labels they’re a bit confusing when trying to work out which Indy 500 cars they represent! I have some original packaging but that seems to make it even worse in a couple of cases. In the attached picture the top body shell is the same as the unopened package which states it is 1964-65 Hallibrand-Offy and the driver was Lloyd Ruby. Lloyd Ruby drove a roadster in 1964 and the No.7 Dupont Golden 7 Halibrand-Ford in 1965 where he came 11th. The few pictures I can find of the 1965 car look much more like the bottom body shell than the top. So if the the above is correct the only Halibrand-Offy that I can find was entered in the 1965 race was the No.19 car driven by Chuck Rodee. The only picture I can find of this car is very, very small and unclear but the rear of the body shell doesn’t appear correct (better reference would help here!). My reference is limited (Google and a few books) and as I’m based in the U.K so any help / guidance would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Mark.

I think the bottom shell is the Eddie Sachs car from 64?

Thanks Mike but I don't think it is! I have another bodyshell which says in the details that it is the Sachs car Mark

Thanks Mike, if you have any pictures of the No. 19 Chuck Rodee car I’d be really interested to see👍

Mark,
I think if you reach out to either Lance or oldphotos(Walt Schaub), they should be able to help you out. Both are on the forum here. I could be wrong but I believe Lance may even have the molds or made molds from those cars and made resin castings from them!

The shell at the top is a 1964 Offy powered Shrike. Lloyd Ruby won the last race of the season at Phoenix with it. Attachments:

The lower one is also a Shrike as they ran in 1965, not sure if they were year old cars or not. Driven by the likes of Ruby, Rutherford, McCluskey, and Leonard.

Jim, My dad is currently working in a restoration shop where they are restoring the Ruby Golden 7 car. Here is a shot he sent me a while ago.

However, I think Mark was looking for this, I was just thanking Lance and now I can thank you too for contributing and helping Mark. However, I do see a what I think to be is a 70 or 71 Mongoose next to the #7 car. That's great too! Now I know how you did such a beautiful job on your Sellers Mongoose!

Oh yeah, I certainly did mix up who the OP was! Sorry Mark.
Sure enough, that is a Mongoose there. I think it's one of the '71 cars that had the Ford in it. I have another Mongoose kit, and I was toying with the idea of making it the 71, but we'll see...
