Building a few old Monogram Kurtis cars and the windshields are a flat piece of plastic that doesn't want to cooperate. I've tried to heat it in hot water to put a bend in it but still not fitting well.
Anyone have a trick to this or possibly a pre-formed windshield available? I've searched the Internet but there isn't much of anything out there for these cars.

Hi Tony,
Yes windscreens can be frustrating to say the least! One solution for me over the years is to keep different sizes of clear plastic soda bottles on hand. In a pinch they can be quite handy for creating windscreens. There are many curves and shapes in these bottles. Also, I know the Kurtis cars are different than Watsons, but The Model Car Channel does sell windscreens for the AMT Watson, I don't know if you can make them fit? Just a thought.

The windscreen fits into 2 detents, one on each side. It bends the plastic to the extent that the bow should fit the contour of the cowling. You may need to carefully trim a little bit on one or both ends of the windscreen. The plastic is rather brittle and does not react well to hot water.

I forgot to mention that I made a template that works well, as I built a few of those. Give me your email address and I'll send you a tracing of the template I use.
