Looks like Round 2 is going to reissue the Gurney Lotus this year
It will be interesting to see if they do any mods to the tooling like they have with others 60's AMT tooling

Thanks for the good news Mike! Supposedly Round 2 has all the MPC and AMT molds. It will be interesting to see what they release. Will we see any AMT Watsons, McLarens or Eagles? How about the 1986/88/89 Marches and Lolas? My personal favorite would be to see the MPC 1968 Rislone Spl. reissued.

The Watson would be a no brainer with the design being public domain they would only have to get rights fees for the driver plus a pic from last year or two did show both the Lotus and Watson as possible
We do know the McLaren was last done in the Hall of Fame set with the Lotus and Watson and Zak Brown does seem to be easy to deal with when it comes to licensing so that is also a possibility
The Eagles haven't been run since the late '70s and I would guess the tooling would need quite a bit of restoration to be useable yes Round 2 has spent the money in the past to restore tooling but if they wouldn't do it for the 1971 Roadrunner I don't see them doing it for these
The 1968 Rislone Spl. would be a perfect choice we know the Eagle body tooling was shared with the Gurney Eagle and that tool is useable but who knows if the Chrome tree tool still exists?
The 80s kits would be interesting the Penske's would be the easiest to do because Roger has in the past shown to be a model fan and played a huge part in getting Revell's last batch of NASCAR kits done
Both Lola and March are no longer in business so those might be tricky because of that also I have a feeling that the 1988 March tool was permanently altered to turn it into the 1986 car but that would still be a very welcome reissue since just about everyone used them in 86 and 87 same thing with the Lola I believe but could be wrong that the tool was permanently altered to turn it into the 1989 car
One bright thing is Salvino's JR has expressed interest in making the current Indycar so that is also a possibility for the future and they have a very strong relationship with STP so maybe Silent Sam in the future if they do get into open-wheel well I can dream can't I lol
Sorry for the long post I'm just excited for new plastic and I just had 2 cups of coffee

Too bad Round 2 doesn't have the Revell Reynard molds too! I really like use the Revell kits as donors for the 90s and 2000s resin cars that I have. I know most of the Jorgensen resins that I have, used the AMT kits as a base. However, when I first decided to build resin kits I did a comparison between the Revell and AMT kits as donors. I have found that the Revell kits work much better than the AMT kits. I normally use the under tray, transmissions, front and rear suspensions, wheel hubs and wheels and tires. I still like to use the AMT Lola seat and tub.

Jim The Reynard tooling I believe is still in the US and not in limbo overseas like a lot of the later Revell tooling so there is always a possibility of someone getting their hands on them in the future
