Jim, I feel your pain, seem like I build, build again and then rebuild!! I'm sure that it will turn out fabulous, as your builds always do.

Those things are way too fragile! I’ve broken the same thing off trying to sand them before

Oh no, you certainly are not having any luck. I feel your pain but know you will get it sorted.

That seems like something I would do, so I fully understand how you feel! Good luck on the rebuild.

It’s been somewhat slow going on this build since I am building three at once. I have been working on the cars, but it’s a lot of tedious work. Filing and removing flash and seams and test fitting and painting details. As far as Unser’s rear cowling was concerned I had a few choice words that I will not repeat! I have finally finished the new rear cowling for the Unser car. Hopefully things can now move along. Jim

I have decaled and clear coated all the cars and I am slowly masking each car and repainting the areas that need to be blacked out. I have done the Unser car; I just need to do the Mears and Rahal cars. I next need to get the suspensions together and painted for all three cars. Once suspensions are completed and the cockpit and side pod interiors are done I can move on to the different turbo configurations for each car. This is where I might just split up this build and do each car, one at a time. Stay tuned in, Jim

Jim, what's the technique for cutting the openings in the Rahal cowl? Those little slots look tedious. Thanks

Jim, what's the technique for cutting the openings in the Rahal cowl? Those little slots look tedious. Thanks John Hi John,
The answer is yes, it's a bit tedious work. I made a small triangle template of the size and shape I wanted from Evergreen sheet plastic. I traced the template on one side and then flipped it over and traced it on the other side. I then took a .70 drill bit and my pin vice and drilled a hole at each corner of the triangles. Staying inside the triangles I drilled holes until I could fit a small file and then filed out the rest of the hole. I will show you how I did the slats in the vent hole on a later post.

Still working on NASCAR parts and casting them! Even had to put the '89 Pennzoil car on hold. Got into building a fully detailed '69 NASCAR Charger 500 and got overwhelmed with requests for some of the scratch built parts. I got about 10% of the car finished!! Gerald

Gerald I'm glad I never got into building NASCAR. I had a couple of co-workers ask me to build them NASCAR stock cars at one time. They wanted to know how much I wanted to build each car. I told them around $150.00 a piece. They said I was nuts and could buy die-cast a lot cheaper. I told them, go buy the die-cast, you're doing me a favor! Never had the urge to build one since!
