Don Davis finished fourth in the 1962 Indy 500 driving the #27 J. H. Rose Truck Lines Lesovsky. My model is built from a Gary Doucette kit of that car. The model is painted with Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red and Tamiya TS-14 Black. The kit wheels were replaced with American Racing Miniatures late 50's Halibrands. Decals are from the kit.

Jerry, that is a nice build! I really like the color you chose for the wheels. What did you use to get that finish?

Jerry, very nice build. I worked with Gary Doucette to have Gary Sleeper do the decals for this one and the #86 team car. I found the artwork for the hood logo which is the main reason I want to do the two cars. It is really a striking logo against the black paint. You beat me to building this one. Any advice would be appreciated.
I agree with Art. The wheels look great and I would really like to know what paint you used.

The wheels are painted with Model Master Jet Exhaust #1796. To me, this is one of Gary's more challenging kits. I can't think of any specific issues, but the kit just requires a lot of work to get things to fit good and square. I think you did Gary's kit of Thompson's 1959 pink Lesovsky, so you know the drill. - Jerry

As I recall, I had a heck of a time with the suspension on the Thompson Lesovsky. Did you have to drill out the opening for the velocity stacks? The kits I am going to use for the Rose team are for the old Thompson car so the hood is solid.
Jet Exhaust! Who would have thunk it? I am going to try that on the Don Branson's1962 Mid-Continent Securities Spl. I am building from Gary's Epperly kit.

Gary already had the openings for the stacks cast into the hood, so no problem there. And yes the hood logo really pops on that black. Thanks for getting that done as it really makes the car. - Jerry
