First off My name is Rob and I am getting back into modeling race cars again after 20 years. I am a little out of place now days. When I was building models in the past there was no internet or after market places to buy model accessories. I had to make it myself or drive 60 miles to a hobby store and buy extra kits to bash from. I am wanting to build a late teens early 20's Bobtail Speedster. If I buy a none hot rod model T kit is there anywhere I could get wire spoke rims and balloon or knobby tires for it? Also on the real cars I know they would shorten the wheelbase on them did they do that by cutting the frame rails or did the just move the rear end mounts and cut the back of the frame rails off? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Rob

I made one of the board racers from the early 20's and found out that they cut the rails at the rear crossover. they were running a 96 or 94 inch wheelbase. Using 1/32 is tough for me to advise on ...not my scale. The first one I did 10 years ago... the second I recently did... both are 1/25. Patrick

Thank you Rossa156. Your car turned out great! What kit did you start with? I am having a hard time finding a model T in 1/25th scale.

The yellow Cotati car was an AMT Police car because it has a Fronty Ford engine! It is the twin cam version. Rossa156

Welcome, Rob! I think 1/32 is going to really restrict you as far as aftermarket parts, 1/25 has several wire wheel choices for you, SE Finecast, Herb Deeks, HRM, and probably more I'm not thinking of. Not my area of interest, either, but there's got to be a T kit in 1/25 to start from. I'll look around.
