The cars were designed and built by Jerry Eisert, who had worked with Dan Gurney. J. Frank Harrison owned the team and he had been a player in road racing in the late 1950's to early 1960's. The first car was a space frame and the two or three later cars were monocoques. There is a good run down on the Indy and F5000 history of the cars at: www.oldracingcars.com/eisert/65-67/

The photo above is the only one I can find on the web of Jerry Eisert's "Bat car". I know this car because I designed the wing for it. Jerry called me one evening and wanted to know the shape of the wing I had been urging him to put on the car. I picked a Clark Y low speed profile with end plates. Jerry went to Phoenix and was very pleased. He was able to cut a second off his 30 sec lap time. They called the car the "Bat car" at the time because Batman was very popular then with LA radio stations having contests about him. But alas, I worked for Ford Aerospace in Newport Beach and Jerry got his engines from Chevy. Someone at Chevy said they'd only give him engines if they didn't use the wing design of that Ford guy. They took off the wing and managed to qualify 33rd at Indy in 1966. But that was the year of the 17 car pile up and Jerry's car was one of the 17.

That's why I miss the Legend cars at Indy, I hear they won't be there again this year from what I'm hearing. I also miss the Indycars at Pocono, they had a good number of Legend cars there too over the years! I used to get a lot of great pictures at these venues, now that also is becoming a thing of the past.
