Hi all you Indy fans,
I found this magnificent colour footage on you tube. But the title says 1941, but I doubt the year, I think it's 1939. Can anyone tell me if I'm wrong or wright?
Anyway I hope you enjoy this magnificent footage as much as I did.
Cheers, Danny

I'm only 4 minutes in, but the cars I'm seeing are consistent with 1941. Particularly at 4 min with Mauri Rose and the red #3 Maserati (the car he started the race in) followed by the #54 Bowes Seal fast at just over 5 minutes in - definitely 1941. This is a great find!

Hi,
Yes indeed these film footages in colour are very valuable and rare, and extremely helpful because colour determination for pre war cars is one of the most controversial and most difficult things to do in model building. My experience is, that restored cars are not always correct in their colour restoration.
So if this is 1941, than did Wilbur Shaw's Maserati run in 1939 with nr 2 as well as in 1941?
I assume this because this B&W footage of 1939 shows the car also with the nr2
By the way there is also color footage of 1940:
Cheers, Danny
