I've seen yesterday the new decals made by Indycals, and notably the Indy '61 Hoover SPL. Epperly drove by Bobby Marshman. But I would know what version he made, the Indy grid presentation as this: Or the version made by Replicarz in 1/18,as this: But it's certainly a great version to make, with the excellent base from Rick resin models. Greetings to all and still HAPPY NEW YEAR!...

Replicarz makes the race day version, which as you can see varied a bit from qualifying. My decals will do either version.

The Hoover Motor Express is in rubber as of this a.m. This master required a great deal of changes. Not once, but twice, embarrasingly. I was completely finished with master back in October and decided to dry it in the kitchen oven for a few minutes at 200 degrees (F) before final priming. That was a tremendous mistake as all of the Milliput delaminated and in about 3 minutes it was a 'throw away' piece. So for those interested It's not just the Belond Epperly with a different tail. The cowl was raised and re-shaped, the nose was competely revamped and the grill is integrated into the body. Panel lines have all been re-done. The hood, and bottom of the body are much fuller and rounder. Pretty happy with this one. And thank you to Michael for turning out another splendid set of skins. I'll post pics of the first resin cast out of the mold. -Rick

Yes, they are coming fast.
Rick, I have not bought the "Fuel Injection" car yet, frankly I have a budget I have to adhere too. Xmas is in the rearview mirror, but the postman has not dropped off his chit yet!
This one looks like a great subject. Glad to hear the grill is integral. I wish I had known that prior to priming, block sanding, putting on a killer paint job with the Belond. It now gathers dust and discuss in long term parking section. Two sets of decals as well, looks good, no ****ing grill. Never thought to test fit it (thanks Lance!)
I don't think anyone is rich on here. I quit the diecast thing years ago do to expense. (among other issues like scale, shape and overall dumb****ery) but will no doubt miss some of these subject due to lack of hobby cash.

Kevin,
Ship the Belond back to me and I'll fit the grill for you without disturbing your killer paint job. That is the best I can offer you.

A nice offer Rick, but not necessary. There are tons of unbuilt kits in my life. This is just another one of them now...
I broke the golden rule, I never test fit anything.
so I can save up for some stripper, then fit the grill in with putty, but several sets of decals again (and Mike gave me the second set) and make like ground hog day
model building is fun!!!!

That's because your oven is filled with rock cocaine and diecasts being smelted down.

As I've said before , so many models, so little money. I must say though, that if you like open wheel stuff, this truly is a golden age. Stuff I never dreamed would be made is. Thanks to all the artisans here who make this stuff. Here's a neat little link of this car under construction. The original car. home.comcast.net/~racestats/Hoover.html

Confuscious, Never ran gold wheels to the best of my knowledge. I just saw this paint color at the hobby shop from Tamiya 'gold-titanium' and thought I'd try it out. It looks like it might be a good candidate for some other Halibrand Roadster Wheels.

Been using it for years - it's a neat color for various engine details as well.

Ready for release. The 1961 Hoover Motor Express Epperly. Can be built as either the qualification version or the race day version. Used bare metal foil (chrome) on the tail fin and vent ducts. Paint is Tamiya Orange (TS-12) over a dark grey primer. Very pleased with the end result. This is a compete kit. Price is $95 +$5 shipping. I'm offering it to forum members first for the next couple of weeks before I start listing it on ebay. Michael (Indycals) did his usual exemplary job on the decals which are available from him for $7 ( www.indycals.net). Send me a personal message if you'd like one. Below is the qualifying day version. Rear quarter view This is the race day version Thanks for looking -Rick
