I remember these kits from when I was a kid. growing up in Indy, Indy Cars were my favorites. at the time, I wasn't aware that these kits were a different scale than most of my 'regular' kits (1/25). a few weeks ago I was on ebay and there was the 1931 winner, Louis Schneider, who was a cousin to my dad. had to pass then but I still hope to get one of those some day. at the time, I had built all of them with my favorite being the Maserati. I really liked the burgandy molded plastic color. good to see you have something out of the box and are at least thinking about building again. I'm really interested in how you do this for my future reference. keep the pics coming!!!

Honda446....I enjoyed your post about your Dad and Louie Schneider. In the early 70's, I worked at a news agency in Marion, In. with an elderly gentleman named Paul Schneider. One day, he mentioned that he had a brother that had won the 500 in the early 30's. We talked about the drivers that he had known ...Bill Cummings, Billy Arnold, but I got the impression that he hated racing after losing his brother in the mid 30's. I guess that's not too surprising... Tom T.

OK after scraping and sanding down the straps on the hood I filled in any gouges and sanded smooth then I added some .020 round rod to simulate the hood hinges then I glued the seat, dash and radiator to one haft of the body then I glued the two hafts together I applied some putty to the seams and will let that dry overnight Thanks for looking MB

this car has me confused. I've seen the box artwork which depicts the car as blue with a red nose but then I've seen models built that are green. ? also just found one of these on ebay. with an hour or so to go on the sale, the highest bid is like $75! of course the kit is NEW, UNopened and still sealed in the original plastic. $75, is that still a deal? don't see too many of these old Aurora kits any more.

Hi Mike, I don't doubt your judgement on colour for the car, but can you please explain where you got the information from that it was green? Aurora states it's blue in the colour description, but it is not the first time a kit manufacturer makes a mistake. There is no evidence to be seen on the B&W photo, if it was blue or green. But one thing is for sure, the nose wasn't a perfect red, it shows discolouration due to that it was painted with a brush. Pre-WW2 cars can be a nightmare if it comes to colours, and restored cars can't be taken as a serious source. Colour photo's aren't available, colour descriptions are fine to give a clue but is subjective, what for one is grey, is for the other silver, unless it's a colour code. And colour photos of that era aren't available. Cheers, Danny

Cheers, Danny About 5 min's in you can see the Monroe being pushed into victory lane the wind screen is the same color as the body and the nose is solid not streaky like the pic above as for the body I know I read that it as green from a period newspaper story about the race
