I am also doing the 1999 Power Team Dallara. This build will be much the same as the 1998 Dallara. This is the ARM kit originally mastered by Chris Etzel. Tom and Ed have done a superb job of redoing Chris' kit. After cleaning up the resin pieces and getting them ready for paint, I drilled out all of the locating holes and and drilled out the air scoop. Once that was done I primed the body with Tamiya Fine Primer White. I had asked Mike Bugel what he used on his 99 Dallara and he told me he used Testors White Lightning lacquer paint out of a rattle can. I used the same paint and it gave the car a nice pearlized finish. Thanks Mike! Jim

Thanks Juanjo! Most of the other parts are paint on this one. I am trying to get all the parts that are to be painted orange together and ready to paint at once, along with taping off the body. I am going to use Rust-oleum Satin Poppy Red. Again Mike Bugel helped me with these colors. They seemed to be a great match of colors for this car. Thanks again Mike!
However, on this paint I am going to decant it into an air-brush paint bottle and use my Pasche single action air-brush to paint the body stipes. I feel I have better control over the flow of paint with the air-brush than a rattle can! Once I have the Poppy Red down I will need to clear gloss coat the body and the parts painted orange since the Poppy Red is a satin color.

Took the time today to sit and tape and paint the Poppy Red onto the body. I also painted the front and rear wings and under tray. After taping the body, I got an empty 1/2 oz. paint bottle. I then got a "bendy" straw. I cut the straw down on both ends. I then circulated the can of Poppy Red to mix the paint, "stirred, not shaken!" Once I felt the paint was mixed well I then decanted the paint into the empty bottle. I then sprayed the decanted paint out of my Pasche single action air-brush. This gave me the desired control of the paint I needed! I will let these items dry and then give them all a good coat of Tamiya clear coat. Jim

While working on and waiting for the paint to dry on some of the smaller parts of the 98 Dallara, I proceeded to decal the 99 Dallara. There were some glitches along the way, but I was able to get them all on and got the first coat of clear down. Now while everything is drying I can start on the small stuff on the 99 Dallara. Jim

That was always a pretty car in my opinion. The pearl harkened back to the days of the roadster.

I know it's been a little while, but I had to take time out for my second grandson who was born Monday, 4/11! So it's only the last day or two that I have been able to put some good modeling time in. I was able to finish up on the cockpit. I did the cockpit mainly out of the box. I added carbon fiber (CF) decals to the tub. I added the shift linkage by using .20 brass rod. I used Crazy Modelers seat harness set. It took me a while to find a picture of the interior of the 99 winner. After searching the internet and looking through many magazine pictures, all I had to do was go to my 1999 Indy Review Year Book page 50 and I found what I was looking for. Kenny Brack sitting in the cockpit of his car. He was using black Simpson seat belts. Mystery over! Jim

Prior to installing the the cockpit, I made padding to go around the cockpit edge as this area was different on the Powerteam car compared to the Rachel's car. I made this from Evergreen plastic stock. Got the front and rear suspension on. Heading into the home stretch! Jim
