I received this little beauty of a kit from Tom and Ed from ARM at a great price too! The original casting was done by Chris Etzel and AMR has done a great job in re-kitting Chris' excellent kits. I began by cleaning off release agent from the body and other resin pieces. Once that is done I scrubbed the body with a Scotch-brite pad. Once all parts are dried I drilled out the air scoop and drilled out the locating holes for the suspension. I then primed the body and some selected pieces, such as the wings and under tray with Tamiya white fine primer. After a quick wet sand of the body and the parts mentioned. I sprayed the wings with Testors Classic white. The body was then sprayed with Rust-oleum Satin Lagoon. Once I spray on the second color of black on the side-pods, I will then clear gloss coat the whole car since the the Rust-oleum Satin Lagoon is a satin finish. Stay tooned in, Jim

Got the second color on the car, Testors Model Master Classic Gloss Black and also a good gloss coat of Tamiya clear gloss. I used a Pasche single action air-brush to paint both. I also painted the front and rear wings Testors/Model Master Classic Gloss White and then painted the front wing end plates Testors/Model Master Classic Glass Black. Getting close to decaling! Jim

Nice job on the paint line. Those guys at American Racing Miniatures are nice guys.
I would love to see some CART subject out of their "works"

While letting the clear coat set on the body, I went to work on some of the parts. The first thing I did was to add the cross bars on the upper and lower A-arms on the front suspension. Once that was done I primed them getting them ready for some gun metal paint. Jim

Nice job on the paint line. Those guys at American Racing Miniatures are nice guys. I would love to see some CART subject out of their "works" K Thanks, when I paint stripes or two tone colors I use Tamiya line tape. Just prior to painting I take a wooden tooth pick and run it along the edge of the tape. Then when I paint I put down a "tack" coat along the tape line. Basically that is just a mist of the color. I let it set up for about 5 minutes. Then I slowly put thin coats on until I get the required depth of color I want. Then I give the paint some time to set. Like around an hour, it all depends on the paint you're using. I then remove the tape, being very careful, because the paint is still tacky and requires at least 24 to 48 hours for the paint to dry properly. When removing the tape, I pull the tape towards the paint I just painted on. This usually gives me fine crisp edges to the paint. Jim

Got most of the decal work done on this car! Now I have to get to work on some of the little things, like finishing out the cockpit, working on the transmission and suspension and getting the wheels and tires finished. Jim

As stated with the 99 Dallara, I haven't been too busy with modeling lately, due to my second grandson being born on Monday, 4/11! However, I've been able to put in some modeling time the last day or two. I was able to add the head cushion around the head area of the cockpit. The cockpit was mainly done out of the box. I used carbon fiber decals on the tub. I used a set of Crazy Modelers seat belt harness' and I added the shift linkage using .20 brass rod. I also added the under tray, and got the rear suspension together. The rear wheel kick ups will be added later. I have a terrible habit of knocking off those little parts, while I'm doing other things. I was able to "smoke" the windscreen using Tamiya clear acrylic Smoke. Hopefully I'll be finished with this car by early this week. Jim
