Well, there were no more bids and the Lola sold for $61.00. Not bad for that kit. I had expected to go for a lot more. Of course the biggest problem for these kits, is that there really aren't any decals for them except the 90 winner by Indycals. There are no other decals for the 90 or 91 Lolas. Indycals does make decals for Guerrero's 92 record setting Lola. It is such a shame that we do not have more decals like 1990 Galles/Kraco Championship Lolas or the beautiful Newman Haas Lolas. The same teams for 1991 along with the Patrick Racing Lola/Alphas. Alas, I doubt we'll ever see any of those decals now. Jim

Please never say never! Especially on this kit, as I think the 1990 field was comprised of some really great looking Lola's. I bid this kit up to the fifty dollar range but backed off as I have a couple that I have never built! What has got me fired up interest wise is the availability of the wheel covers, which just showed up this week. I have been able to make them using blow out disk from a BiJur automatic oiling system like are used in keeping machine tools lubed in manufacturing. These are aluminum but after punching some holes in them look pretty good.
The decal problem can be overcome. There are more and more guys willing to "have a go" at it all the time. I actually saw a Foyt 1990 Lola today, so there were decals for this subject at one time. Kevin of Silver City Models passion is for the ground effect cars. If he takes a fancy to some of these cars he will no doubt produce some tunnel cars in the future. He really has no interests in the era's before 1980 or so.... and this fits well with the other guys who have a passion for things before the 80's. This is GREAT for us!
The 1990 Lola is one of the sexiest racecars ever IMO.
Congrats to whomever won the thing. I didn't value it much over fifty bucks.

Hube, You are quite correct on the potential future of Indycar modeling. We certainly are seeing a lot more availability of kits recently. I also enjoy all eras of Indycars. However, I like to think my specialty is in the 80s and 90s cars. As far as decals, you certainly can piece together decals for some cars. Like the Foyt cars from this era. They are 93 and 95 decals available from Indycals and most of those decals can be used. You can also use some of the 92 Quaker State decals to do Crawford's 91 cars. The same goes for the Havoline and Valvoline cars. There are decal sets that have been available over the years, but they are not readily available. Of course you can always go the route of having them made by one of our members out there or just doing your own. Jim

Wow is right. I don't think the Smokey Yunick car is even a whole kit. IIRC you had to do a bunch of fitting to get the engine into the back of it. This was released when I was being treated and it's one of the few items I have not bought off Lance.
The McLaren is a great kit that builds up really nice.
How did the Antares fare? I have one of those as well, but that one listed had a bunch more parts. I only have the body and the fuel fillers. Need a windshield (go figure)

So far no bids on it. However, I'm sure this will be a last minute buy for someone. These kits are not getting any cheaper! Fortunately Lance does re-release his kits from time to time, but you can never be sure. You can also never be sure when something may happen to someone, like loss of interest as did Chris Etzel, fortunately ARM has re-released his kits, or health issues or any number of reasons. That is why I have always pushed that when these guys offer them, put your order in right away, you may never see them again! If you never build them it's still a good investment. Jim
