Thanks Mike, Jim, and Juanjo. I appreciate the comments on the paint. You should have seen the mess I made on the first attempt. Had to strip the paint and start over. Am putting the decals on now. Slow process because I have to double up the white numbers because the car color shows through if I only use one layer. I have also replaced the "Chief" decal on the oil tank. Made my own so we will see how that works. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. Pictures in a couple of days.

Decals are on. (All but one of them anyway.) Some of you with sharp, youthful eyes may notice that a “9” is missing from the tail. The compound curves of the tail are my sworn enemy when it comes to decaling. I managed to butcher the 9’s on a couple of sheets and had to order more. When they arrive, I will correct this. You may also notice that the nose color has changed. It looked much golder than the photo of the real car so I repainted it with a gold/copper mixture. I really like the Jim Robbins decal with the little birds. I think GWS Decals did a nice job on these. kip

Looks stunning kip! Sometimes the extra work pays off and it did here! Your homemade Indian head looks great too! Hope it works for you.

Suspension is done, except for the drag link. Instrument panel is in. All decals are on. Oil tank installed in new position. Next will be the roll bar (needs to have a vertical piece added down the middle), rear "bumper (has a "vee" in the center instead the rounded shape of the kit), seat, steering wheel, the hated windshield installation, exhaust, wheels, fuel filler, and seat belts. Next post should be the completed roadster. kip

Thanks for the kind words Jim. It took me an entire Sunday afternoon to make the Chief decal, starting with some clip art. I am pretty happy with it.

Working on the rear “bumper”. Kit bumper is straight across the back. The 62 Robbins had an odd point at the back. Another view. Same car, different year. Kit bumper on top. Made the bottom bumper from copper tubing so I could solder the diagonal braces on. The copper is a bugger to bend but once you get bend it, it stays in shape—unlike the aluminum tubing. Braces soldered on. Seat is in with Detail Master 2260 lever-style seat belts. I really like the belts, but the instructions are rubbish kip
