Hello guys, Huge indy car fan. Grew up growing to the races at Nazareth Speedway. I want to get into building (I'm a rookie), but I'm not sure where to get kits and all the parts. Can anyone help me? I believe, the best way is try some AMT basic kits (In despite of many errors). In indy model world 1/25 scale have more options as 1/24. Many resin casters make their models (and resin bodys to convertion) in this scale. You can made too many cars out-of-the-box with AMT plus decals from Indycals.net. After your acquire some skills, you can try some resin conversions from Lance Sellers, Bill Jorgensen, Calvin Sallee, Chirs Hale and others...and wheel covers from me (http://indycarmodeling.proboards.com/thread/838/wheel-covers-90) RegardĀ“s

Great to have you here! Glad to see someone from my area(Northeast)finally! If you grew up going to Nazareth, and saw the Indy cars they raced there from 1987 to 2004. Most of the Indy car kits you're looking for are the Revell Reynard kits, along with the AMT Lola and Penske kits in 1/25 scale. As Shnouz says, most plastic and resin are in 1/25 scale. Other plastic kits include the Tamiya 93 Lolas. However, these are 1/20 scale. Most of these kits can be had on ebay at a reasonable price, but you have to be patient. Once you've acquired these kits, some you will build, most you will keep as donor kits. You are entering Indy car model building at a great time. They are a number of great cottage industry companies out there such as Lance Sellers, Calvin Sallee, Rick Faeth, Bill Jorgensen, American Racing Miniatures and many others. Here is a link to some of these guys, mb2501.proboards.com/thread/4/aftermarket-dealersAs a matter of fact Lance is looking at re-releasing his Lotus 38. You won't want to miss out on that one. It's been a few years since he released this kit. Calvin also has an 89 Penske available. You never know when or what these guys are going to release a kit and usually they are short run. So, you have to hop on them when you see them available! Good luck and happy hunting, Jim
