Hello, I'm a long-time modeler, mostly aircraft, but I've always loved the Indy 500. My father was stationed at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, near Indianapolis, in 1968 and 1971. I was too young to attend the races, but he did take me to see qualifications for both years, and you can't beat '68 for such a wide range of cars! I must say I remember the '71 cars better, seeing the Johnny Lightning Specials was too cool for a ten-year old. I will be a lurker here, as I have no expertise in the subject. I will ask the occasional question, which is the main reason I've joined. I look forward to learning more about. The only car model that survived my moves in the Army and USAF is the Heller Brabham BT33 I built during a move to Texas in 1991, though I don't have any pictures of it. Here's a few links to my aircraft modeling, if you are interested: www.hyperscale.com/2010/features/martinmars144dh_1.htmwww.hyperscale.com/2011/features/jetprovost72dh_1.htmCheers, Don Hinton Major, USAF (Ret) Spokane, WA

Hi Don!
Welcome aboard! That's some great modeling that you have posted! You should pick up and try an Indycar some time, you'd enjoy it, you certainly have the skills. Most of us here also model other topics and not just cars! I used to do a lot of 1/72 scale myself. I found many techniques I used on my planes came in handy on my Indy cars.
